Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Rosemary Aubert, author of the Ellis Portal mystery series as well as countless poems and short stories. Rosemary tells us about her short story “The Phone”, which will appear in our Fall 2022 anthology: In the Spirit of 13.

Rosemary is a Canadian-American author, poet, and critic, most known for her Ellis Portal series of crime novels. She won the Arthur Ellis Award for best crime novel in 1999 for her book The Feast of Stephen.

Aubert was born in Niagara Falls, New York, but has lived in Canada for over 40 years. She currently resides in Toronto, where she teaches novel writing

S5 E98: The Mesdames of Mayhem, In the Spirit of 13, ft: Catherine Astolfo

Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Catherine Astolfo, author of the Emily Taylor mystery series as well as countless other novels and short stories. Catherine tells us about her short story “The Spirit of St. Lewis”, which will appear in our Fall 2022 anthology: In the Spirit of 13.

In 2012, Catherine won the prestigious Arthur Ellis Award for Best Crime Short Story in Canada, for “What Kelly Did.” She’s also a Brampton Arts Award winner. In 2018, she won the Arthur Ellis Award again for the short story, “The Outlier,” published in the Mesdames of Mayhem anthology, Thirteen Claws.

Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Madona Skaff, author of Shifting Trust, as well as the Naya Investigates series. Madona offers insight into her character’s struggle with MS, and also discusses her short story “Moving On”, which will appear in our Fall 2022 anthology: In the Spirit of 13.

Madona’s story “First Impressions” was shortlisted for the Arthur Ellis Awards and appeared in The Whole She-Bang 2, a Toronto Sisters in Crime anthology of Canadian authors.

Meet the Mesdames and Messieurs of Mayhem!

Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Rosemary McCracken, author of the Pat Tierney mystery series, including: Safe Harbor, Raven Lake, Black Water and Uncharted Waters.

Safe Harbor, was shortlisted for Britain’s Debut Dagger.

Rosemary also has many short stories to her credit, including “The Sweetheart Scamster,” Thirteen, Carrick Publishing (2013). This story was a finalist for a 2014 Derringer Award.

Rosemary will discuss her story “The Fur Coat Conundrum”, which will appear in our Fall 2022 anthology: In the Spirit of 13.
