Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Blair Keetch, author of many short stories, including “To Catch a Kumiho”, which will appear in In the Spirit of 13, coming Fall, 2022.

Blair’s short story “A Contrapuntal Duet” was the 2019 Winner for emerging crime writers and was included in the most recent Mesdames of Mayhem anthology, In the Key of Thirteen, released by Carrick Publishing and he is now a proud ‘Monsieur’. His story “Deadly Cargo” was included in the mystery anthology Heartbreaks & Half-Truths, published by Superior Shore Press.

Blair was thrilled to again be part of the Carrick Publishing family with his story “Sleep, Perchance to Die”, included in A Grave Diagnosis. His latest short story is “Killings 4 Sale” and is part of the Asinine Assassins anthology by Smart Rhino Publishing (late 2021).

S5 E101: The Mesdames of Mayhem, In the Spirit of 13, ft: Melodie Campbell

Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Melodie Campbell, author of the Goddaughter series of light-hearted mysteries. Melodie will talk about her story “The Kindred Spirits Detective Agency”, which will appear in In the Spirit of 13 by the Mesdames of Mayhem, Fall 2022.

Called the “Queen of Comedy” by the Toronto Sun, Melodie Campbell was also named the “Canadian literary heir to Donald Westlake” by Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.

Winner of 10 awards, including The Derringer (US) and the Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence, she has multiple bestsellers, and was featured in USA Today. Her publications include over 100 comedy credits, 16 novels and 60 short stories, but she’s best known for The Goddaughter mob caper series.

The Merry Widow Murders (from Cormorant Books) will be released early 2023.

Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Cheryl Freedman, a 25-year veteran of the Canadian crime-writing scene and a long-time freelance editor of crime fiction, Jewish mysticism, memoirs, academic papers, and more.

Cheryl was the first executive director of Crime Writers of Canada and occasional chair of the Bloody Words Mystery Conference and the Bony Blithe Light Mystery Award. She takes the occasional stab at writing mysteries that reflect her interest in ballads and folksongs, cross-cultural folklore and mythology, and ferrets.

Join us weekly for this great series of short interviews with the authors who make up our collective, the Mesdames of Mayhem, and our “Coming Soon!” anthology, In the Spirit of 13.

This week we feature Rosemary Aubert, author of the Ellis Portal mystery series as well as countless poems and short stories. Rosemary tells us about her short story “The Phone”, which will appear in our Fall 2022 anthology: In the Spirit of 13.

Rosemary is a Canadian-American author, poet, and critic, most known for her Ellis Portal series of crime novels. She won the Arthur Ellis Award for best crime novel in 1999 for her book The Feast of Stephen.

Aubert was born in Niagara Falls, New York, but has lived in Canada for over 40 years. She currently resides in Toronto, where she teaches novel writing
